SURVEY

The ORA Personality Profiler was developed by Dr. John P. Golden, Ed.D. and Dr.Donald A. Johnson, Ph.D. and is based on the works of Carl Jung, Gordon Allport, and David Saunders.  The ORA Personality Profiler system is a powerful and multifaceted approach to understanding personality.  Personality is the essence of who you are as a unique individual.

The ORA Profiler provides more than just a 4-letter personality type.  The ORA Personality Profiler breaks new ground as an assessment of personality.  Not only does it assess a persons type, it also assesses the sub-components, or facets that make up the various types.  It is a reliable and valid instrument that has both a strong theoretical and research basis.  The theories on which the Profiler is based suggest that peoples obvious differences in personality could be attributed to behavioral preferences for ten paired global personality dimensions called Extroverting or Introverting, Sensing or Intuiting, Thinking or Feeling, Organizing or Adapting, and Tense or Calm.

There are no right or wrong answers, nor good or bad personalities.  Every personality has its own unique strengths and express developmental needs.  The ultimate goal in reviewing the contents of your report should be along three lines; self-validation of your personality, a deeper appreciation of the value of other peoples unique differences, and finally, a commitment to developing a balanced use of a complete range of personality characteristic and behavioral skills.

History of MBTI Form J.

ORA Founder, Dr. Edward Golden, in the 1950's and 1960's was among the first human services professionals to adopt the MBTI personality survey and helped pave the way to making that survey, and Jungian psychological type, one of the most popular assessment instruments and theoretical methodologies for mapping personality in the world today.   Dr. Golden went on to become one of the founders of the Association for Psychological Type (APT).

In the 1980's Dr. Golden introduced his friend Dr. David Saunders to Peter Myers, heir to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.  At the time Saunders was employed by ORA as the Director of Research.  Saunders, Golden and a team of MBTI enthusiasts, including three ORA staff members extended Isabel Myers' research.  With significant funding support by Dr. Golden, the team developed the MBTI - Form J and the Type Differentiation Indicator (TDI).  These efforts eventually led to the development of the MBTI Form K Expanded Analysis Report (EAR) now marketed as the MBTI Step 2 by Consulting Psychologists Press, Inc. in Palo Alto, CA.

History of Renewal Publishing

Building on his work as researcher of MBTI Form J, Dr. Golden founded his own publishing organization in 1993 to publish psychological assessments which met his organization's needs above that which was available on the market at that time.

Our rich history in the test and assessment field pre-dates the internet age.  Today, Renewal is the publisher of the ORA Personality Profiler series and Values Arrangement List series of assessments. These tools are used internationally by career and organizational development professionals to assess clients' personality type and clarification of values.

ORA PERSONALITY PROFILER

The ORA Personality PROFILER is a new assessment system that is successfully used by diverse groups of human services professionals internationally. It is an invaluable tool in career counseling and guidance, management and leadership development, personal growth seminars, teambuilding, conflict resolution, family and marital counseling, and many other areas where knowledge of self and others is a focus.

What does it measure?

The ORA Personality PROFILER measures four global dimensions of psychological type plus an important fifth dimension which identifies a person's typical reaction to daily stress. Additionally, 36-facet scales related to the five global dimensions allow for a deeper and broader base of understanding of individual differences.

Origin of the Personality Ball

The Personality Ball pictured below was given to the developers of the ORA Personality Profiler by personality researcher David Saunders, Ph.D.  It helps depict how personality can be best understood as existing in three dimensional space.

Handcrafted by Researcher, David Saunders , an academic researcher of the highest caliber, perhaps had been influenced by L.L. Thurstone, author of "Vectors of the Mind" (1934).  Thurstone, a mathematical psychologist, illustrated his findings with the aid of a three-dimensional diagram in which each trait was represented as a point on the surface of a ball. On his diagram two closely correlated traits were placed next to each other.  Negatively correlated traits were placed on opposite sides of the ball.  Independent traits were displayed at ninety degrees angles.  The correlation for each pair of traits agrees with the cosines of the central angles.  As a whole, each trait could be described in terms of its coordinates on the sphere and in relationship to each other.
